Scottish Book Launch of Strike!

You're welcome to join our book launch of Strike! on Thursday 17 September at 7pm: the Communist Party and the General Strike 1926 (Manifesto Press).

Introduced by Elaine McFarland, Professor Emeritus of History, GCU and Josh Morris, Aberdeen Trades Council.

Building Tour of New Bridgegate Church & Unity Bookshop

On Saturday 20 September, we're running informal tours of New Bridgegate Church and our bookshop collection through the day.

So just pop along between 10am and 4pm. For architecture enthusiasts, a guided tour of  the B listed former New Bridgegate Church.

Unity Books is Britain’s biggest socialist bookshop with a vast collection of new and second-hand books.  

Within the former New Bridgegate Church. Built in 1922-23 for the United Free Church.

Designed by Thomson, Sandilands & Macleod in the Scots Gothic style with a massive traceried west window and a tower with a short spire with impressive Great War memorials.

See the impressive external and internal Great War memorials.

There will be a special display of banners, newspapers and pamphlets in the bookshop.

Converted to the Govanhill Workspace in 1994 by Govanhill Community Development Trust.

Now occupied by a varied range of businesses and community organisations.
