About this Event
We will be showcasing the stories of Kelvin Hall through our textile works.
Visitors will be able to try some simple embroidery or weaving and could contribute to our 3D interactive piece.
Children are welcome as long as they are supervised by parents at all times.
No ticket required but space is limited so first come first serve basis.
About this Venue
Kelvin Hall
Threading Stories Collective originated from a series of embroidery workshops organized by Migrant Voice in January 2024.
We are now a constituted creative group, focused mainly on textiles, but open to any kind of creative activity.
We aim to ensure that at least 50% of our members are migrants/have experience of migration and that our meetings are safe spaces from migrants and non-migrants to exchanges stories, share skills and learn about each other cultures.
The conversations around the table are often private and personal and we expect the members to respect the privacy and confidentiality of others.
We meet twice a month: on the first and the third Sunday from 11 o’clock. Currently, our meeting venue is Kelvin Hall, Argyle Street, Glasgow, G3 8AW.
To ensure that we learn new skill, we are asking all members to take turns to deliver a workshop to the rest of the group.
We are striving to show our works through the exhibitions and promote them through our collective Instagram.
When possible, we wish to collaborate with other organisations to deliver public works and workshops that promote the positive impact of migration on the local culture and society at large.
