About this Venue
St Aloysius' Church
Recently the building reopened on the completion of restoration works which have brought about a most glorious transformation.
It is wonderful to see and delight in the new light and colour which transforms the wonderful interior of the church.
The length of the building is 150 feet, and the breadth 90 feet.
The nave has a span of 44 feet and is vaulted over by a barrel-roof of reinforced concrete, which at the time was probably the greatest achievement of this branch of engineering in Scotland, rising to a height of 60 feet above the floor, and reaches 71 feet under the main cupola.
The lofty tower or campanile is 150 feet and constitutes a striking landmark in the city.
