About this Event
Springburn Winter Gardens Reborn
This pioneering project will stabilise the 126-year-old steel and cast iron framework of Springburn Winter Gardens to create an open-air, breathing 'living ruin' as the first step towards restoring the A-listed landmark.
Designed alongside Collective Architecture and structural engineers Narro, the Springburn Winter Gardens will soon feature: Public access pathways and architectural lighting.
A versatile indoor-outdoor cultural space for performances and heritage education. A thriving urban croft complete with community allotments.
Join trustees, the architect and engineer involved in the project on-site for a walking site tour and discussion about the history of Springburn, as one of Glasgow's grandest Victorian landmarks comes back to life after nearly half a century of abandonment.
Meet at the gate to the perimeter fence of Springburn Winter Gardens inside Springburn Park for 1pm, the location will be marked by a festival banner.
Guided site tour and discussion of the project along with displays of models and associated information. Sturdy footwear required. Hard hats provided.
