Come and experience the magical theatrical sculptures and stories at the Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre - one of Glasgow’s most popular and unique attractions, captivating audiences since 1989. Its kinetic sculptures, crafted from found objects and hand-carved figures, combine movement, music and lighting to create mesmerising performances filled with rich stories and cross-cultural inspiration.

Sharmanka is offering an opportunity to explore our gallery and learn about Sharmanka's history. You will also be treated to a mini-show of three of Sharmanka's artworks as a glimpse into its theatrical experience.

We will be running 22 visit slots (30 min duration each) over the course of GDODF.

Approximate capacity for each slot is 50 visitors.

Sharmanka will be running a daily timetable of bookable visit slots from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th September. Direct booking link to be published on the GDODF website.

This visit is not one of Sharmanka's full shows.

Whilst running a programme of free visits as part of the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival in the mornings and early afternoons, Sharmanka will also continue its operation of scheduled performances with a paid entry in the late afternoons and evenings.

Sharmanka is one of the most popular and unique attractions in Glasgow.

It has been entertaining and enthralling its audiences for over three decades since the original opening in 1989.

Sharmanka features an extensive collection of kinetic (moving) sculptures assembled from found objects, beautiful scrap and exquisitely hand carved characters.

Each one of these ‘kinemats’ is fused with synchronised soundtrack and bespoke lighting design.

The artworks are layered with cross-cultural stories and mesmerising visuals loved across all generations.

TRONGATE 103 and our venue is fully accessible. Sharmanka's space (on the 1st floor, accessible by lift) is all on one level. We have limited space in our theatre, so booking of wheelchair space as part of the visit is essential.
