Over three days, visitors are invited to Cast a Stitch, share their memories and stories and become part of a unique community artwork celebrating Glasgow’s proud shipbuilding heritage.

No sewing experience is needed – just come along and add your thread to our shared story.

Behind-the-Scense Shipbuilding Offices Tours

As well as taking part in the tapestry, Saturday & Sunday visitors will also have the rare opportunity to step behind the scenes of the former Fairfield Shipbuilding Offices. Explore areas not normally open to the public and discover how this remarkable Grade A Listed building has been transformed into a thriving creative hub while preserving its rich heritage. 

Throughout the Doors Open Day, free guided tours will reveal the fascinating story of Fairfield Shipyard, including the famous Boardroom where generations of shipbuilding decisions were made, and the people whose innovation and craftmanship helped shape Glasgow and the Clyde’s world-renowned maritime heritage.

The weekend culminates on Sunday at 2pm, when Dr AndrewCrummy MBE will give a special talk in the boardroom sharing the remarkablestory behind The Great Tapestry of Scotland, the inspiration for the newClydeside Tapestry and the power of community storytelling through stitch.
