A refurbished, stables block, originally designed by David Hamilton in 1790 and restored and re-purposed by Cassiltoun Trust with architects Elder and Cannon.

Castlemilk Stables was once the home for the horses and workers of the Stuart family, who lived in Castlemilk House (demolished in 1969).

‍

After falling into disrepair, the stables building was restored in 2007 and is now the office of Cassiltoun Housing Association.

‍

The multi-award winning building melds the original architecture with its modern regeneration and is also a thriving community hub and garden.

‍

It sits on the edge of Castlemilk Park, once part of the designed landscape and pleasure grounds of the now demolished Castlemilk House.

‍

The Cassiltoun Trust was established in 2000, it manages the running of the historic building but also the delivery of multiple projects that benefit the wider Castlemilk community.

‍

Its purpose was to oversee the restoration and development of Castlemilk Stables and create a sustainable community asset.

‍

Since 2009 the Trust has expanded its remit and now plays a major role in the regeneration and activities in Castlemilk Park which is situated adjacent to the Stables.
