About this Event
Step into the Arlington Baths
On this tour of Europe’s oldest member’s owned a run swimming club, you will learn about our building, why it was formed and the lives of some of our members and visitors over the last 156 years.
Guided tours will be led by volunteer member guides and concentrate on the history of the club and how our members use the club today.
There are restrictions in the taking of photographs in some areas and some rooms in the building will be out of bounds due to members changing. Please ask the guide before taking photographs.
We kindly ask festivalgoers to note these are tours of the building only and not an opportunity to use the facilities.
About this Venue
The Arlington Baths Club
The Arlington Baths Club is the oldest member-run swimming pool in Europe.
Our Category 'A' listed building houses a skylit swimming pool and a magnificent Turkish Bath, Glasgow's homage to The Alhambra.
This Victorian bathing complex was constructed over several decades by eminent architects of the time, expanding and changing as the city of Glasgow grew.
Our ever-changing membership has always reflected our cosmopolitan city during the last 155 years.
On the tours you will learn more about our building and community and hear some of the stories of members and visitors.
