FAMILY EVENT - The Ruined Banquet
Crookston Castle, 170 Brockburn Road, G535RY
The Ruined Banquet is a one of a kind raucous adventure into medieval life through the eyes of the Laird and Lady of Crookston Castle and their family. Crookston Castle is a rare gem being Glasgow's only surviving medieval Castle and it doesn't disappoint. Come and explore as we take you through a potted history of the castle accompanied by a live site specific performance!
Expect a lively court Jester, an unforgettable banquet and an extremely silly story unfolding before your very eyes. Expect an angry Laird pacing his rooms after his fantastically planned banquet is ruined. Expect a furious Lady bemoaning the fact that the banquet was even happening in the first place without the very fashionable and key ingredients. Expect some naughty children banished to their room for wreaking havoc on the poor unfortunate guests. We’ll begin with a tour around the outside of the Castle and find out some extraordinary facts about its history, then you will be invited in to a rather unusual 16th Century banquet with even more unusual (fake) food. But what happens next will take you on a tour of all of the nooks and crannies of the Castle. You’ll meet the whole family as their story is told in the wonderfully atmospheric Crookston Castle. The story is purely fictional and is not based on and real characters from history, but the facts you will hear about the Castle are all true – or at least believed by historians to be very likely! |
