Lord Provost Awards Outstanding Participants

We returned to the Glasgow City Chambers for our annual Civic Reception thanking our participants for their superb contributions to Glasgow Doors Open Days 2017. Following speeches from the RIAS and former GBPT Director, the Lord Provost presented our Awards for Excellence to 2017's outstanding participants. ​

The Glasgow Gurdwara were crowned Outstanding New Festival Participant for the warm welcomed offered to over 1,000 visitors. Niall Murphy of Glasgow City Heritage Trust and Pollokshields Heritage was awarded Inspiring City Tour for his five separate walking tours around different areas and on different subjects, one of which attracted over 60 visitors on the day.

Innovative Visitor Engagement went to Camphill Gate, who were also first-time participants, for their fantastic offering which included guided tours, an exhibition of architectural drawings, a pop-up café and a secret evening concert held on their rooftop overlooking Queens Park.

Children's Educational Experience went to Govan Old Church, Govan Stones and Digit! for their outstanding activities bringing to life their venue and its history, which included a live viking takeover, green-screen fancy-dress as well as craft and quiz activities.

Our Volunteer award went to Ann Nisbet for her outstanding contribution to Camphill Gate's activities, and to the research and delivery of the Neale Thomson and the Crossmyloof Loaf tours. Finally, a special award for Outstanding Effort went to Kim Paterson for managing to single-handedly welcome over 600 visitors to the Woodlands Cottage 'the hidden house'. ​​
