HUB: TALK – Behind the Prize: In Conversation with GIA Student Award Winners 2019
The Garment Factory, 10 Montrose St, Glasgow, G1 1RE
A chance to see the GIA award winning projects presented by the students themselves. Gain an insight into the talent being produced by the nation's leading institutions and even enter into a critical dialogue with them.
The GIA Student Awards portray contemporary trends and considerations in architectural thinking and provide a platform to recognise the outstanding work of the architects of tomorrow. Awards and commendations are given to students in each year at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and University of Strathclyde, with their achievement celebrated at an earlier prize giving ceremony. This event, however, dives deeper into each winner's project to reveal their process and final outcomes.
The Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) is the largest Chapter in the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS). With over 1200 members located from the Scottish Borders to the islands of Argyll, the chapter covers a diverse membership.
The GIA’s main focus is to engage with its members to provide a supporting role and in the promotion of architecture in the Chapter Area. The GIA regularly hosts events such as CPD seminars and building visits for architects and organises workshops, competitions and publications in association with community groups and charitable organisations.
