Over the years, guided walks and tours have become a staple of the GDODF programme and 2020 will be no different. While Covid-19 prevents us from arranging tours with an in person guide, our participants have been hard at work creating tours that you can do in your own time. This means you can still get out and about and learn about the city on the hoof!
We will be using a fantastic app called Guidigo to present our tours. Guidigo is free to download and makes exploring the city easy and fun!
HOW TO: 1. Download the Guidigo App on your phone.
2. Search in the app for a tour from the list below or alternatively search for 'Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival' Click on a tour name to be taken to a web version of the trail. Click on 'INFORMATION' to be taken to the trail's page on this website. |
Trails not on Guidigo Not all of our digital trails are on Guidigo! Click on the trail you are interested in for more information: City Centre Contemporary Art Trail City Centre Mural Trail Govanhill Heritage Trail Pollok Park Heritage Trails Podcast |

Lost Mansions and Electric Suburbs: a tour of Bellahouston, Dumbreck and Hazelwood
Authors: John Thomson and Heather Middleton
This tour looks at the history of Dumbreck, Bellahouston and Hazelwood. It starts at Charles Rennie Mackintosh's 'newest building' - the House for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park - with a backward glance to his early work at nearby Craigie Hall. We then explore three lost mansions, traces of which can still be found within and around Bellahouston park. We end up in Hazelwood Conservation Area, with a tour of the 'Electric Suburb' and Hazlewood House.
