WORKSHOP - 30 Years of Wing Hong Centre and the Chinese Community

You’re invited to visit our centre - housed within a B listed 19th century classical villa - to celebrate our 30th year anniversary together. It will be a great opportunity to experience Chinese Culture, tradition and customs

​The Wing Hong Chinese Elderly Group(also known as The Wing Hong Centre) was founded in 1989, the aim of our organisation is to tackle the problem of social exclusion faced by elderly Chinese and enhance the quality of life for the Chinese elderly who lives in Glasgow area. Wing Hong exists to provide equal opportunities for elderly Chinese by supporting them in the areas of health, welfare, housing and social services. The objectives of the Group are to provide culturally sensitive and holistic services and support to the service users and to combat social exclusion and raise awareness of the needs of elderly Chinese.

The Wing Hong Centre provides a safe and friendly venue for all kinds of leisure activities, provides lunch club for the service users, the lunch club serves Chinese meals which helps to meet the dietary and nutritional requirements of its users.

Wing Hong remains to be the major day centre which caters specifically for elderly Chinese in the West of Scotland. 2019 will mark the 30th years running of the Wing Hong Group.

Activities including:
-Turn back times with a photo exhibition of Wing Hong and the Chinese Community from the late 80s to now.
-Chinese themed art and craft workshops (organised in partnership with Ricefield Art and Culture Centre)
-Chinese tea tasting session (organised in partnership with Ricefield Art and Culture Centre)
-A visit to our community garden- we’re in the progress of transforming some parts of our ornamental garden into a produce growing session.
-Cookery demonstration (delivered by Go Vegan Govan)
-Snacks and refreshment.
Fri 20th, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3:30pm

Accessibility: Not accessible - 6 steps to the front door, spiral staircase to the first floor.
Facilities: Seating, Toilet, Refreshments
Parking: No, strict parking restrictions in the Garnethill area. Residents parking permits or parking vouchers needed to be displayed.
