All our visitors can now have a truly authentic Scottish experience of playing the bagpipes. Visit the Museum of Piping for a tour which charts the history of piping through the collection on display. Then with our bagpiper host, you can try the pipes yourself!
The Museum of Piping at The National Piping Centre holds a fascinating collection of instruments and related artefacts including great Highland pipes, small pipes, reed pipes and bellows. Recently re-displayed, the museum features Highland pipes from the 18th Century through to the present day, telling the story of the development of the instrument in Scotland. Instruments from the European bagpipe tradition are also to be seen including the Hungarian Duda, Spanish Gaita and Italian Zampogna bagpipes. You can even have a go yourself on the bagpipes and practice chanter!
